Sometime back in the early 80s, I was on a (very) delayed train stuck somewhere near Crewe. The guard apologised for the late running of the service 'due to the complete inability of British Rail to run a competent train service'. Rueful applause throughout our carriage.

It is now Friday, but I spent most of the morning thinking it was Thursday. Got a new puppy on Monday, so I blame sleep deprivation.

A busy cinema. A teen's phone rang - he answered. Chat went something like: 'Alright mate .... no, I'm at the Cinema ... The new James Bond ... bit boring actually ... yeah, what do you fancy?'
At that point the man behind him took his phone and said he'd give it back when the film ended. We cheered
