As a long time rider and ER provider, I started offering first aid courses specifically for trail users, which differs a bit from the 2-day/16hr wilderness first aid programs, www.safetrailsfirstaid.com and I’ve heard/seen (at work) some bad injuries, we’ve even had some fatalities

Tough question. Certifications can’t replace experience, but at the same time, if someone has been doing anything for 20yrs but they’re doing wrong or the standards have been updated, that experience may not have the same value.
