This is Reece. Reece has a superstition (religion?) about socks.

When we leave the house, he makes a sock offering to ensure that we return home. And we always do.
Doomscrolling pause.

4 days of bamboo growth.

Lovely ferns from today's farm walkabout.
August 15, 2025 at 2:51 PM
Coffee from the farm. The red ones were harvested yesterday and today. The others have been drying for a few days.

We might have enough to do a small batch of roasted coffee next week.

It's also passionfruit processing day.
August 10, 2025 at 5:26 PM
It's lime processing day. We got almost 2 liters of juice from them. And they were seedless!

Today's walkabout and harvest. We are going to harvest 2 more banana plants and a bunch of limes a bit later.

Today's walkabout and harvest.
August 5, 2025 at 1:05 PM
More bananas, ripened, peeled, and frozen.

These are from the 2 plants we harvested last week. There are still more that are green and need a bit of time to finish ripening.

We have red bananas. I was aware that they were a thing, and the previous owner said he had planted some.

Harvesting these will be a challenge, it's a tall plant on a steep slope.

Today's farm walkabout.

A bunch of bunches of bananas, ripe and ready to eat. These were harvested last week. There are still a lot of bananas that need another week to finish ripening.

From our morning walk around the farm
August 3, 2025 at 2:05 PM
Today's harvest from the farm. Bananas (all of this from 1 plant), 1 cacao pod, 6 passionfruit, one guava, and 3 coffee cherries.

Close up of the guava and coffee.

Most of the coffee is still green right now, so we are just getting a few early cherries here and there.

We are attempting to propagate the pineapple that we harvested. If this works the way the Wisdom Of The Internet says it should, we will get 4 new plants from 1 pineapple.

West Indian raspberry on the farm. It grows all over the place, and has been producing fruit at least since February. Very tasty, but you need to harvest and eat immediately. It provides us with a lovely snack as we roam around the farm.

A path through bamboo. This path leads to our cacao trees.
July 4, 2025 at 1:36 PM
Cacao (precursor to chocolate) growing at the farm. We have 4 trees producing fruit, and they appear to be 4 different hybrid varieties (the red one might be a Trinitario hybrid).

We have harvested the seeds and planted them, producing more than 300 seedlings so far. We would like to plant 2000.
July 4, 2025 at 1:34 PM
Avocado growing on the farm. We have a bunch of avocado trees here, but this one is very early (the others are just starting to flower).
