We need real data protection legislation and new technological paradigms that allow users to hold their own data - incl social graphs and content - as they see fit with apps, etc. just being interchangeable frontends.

No tech is immune from enshittification and it often follows an arc that tracks such hiring.

Lynch was a true auteur and a significant influence for many of us - a maker of dreams into shared visionscapes. A person whose work, really, even featured in many dreams.

David Lynch's passing was not unexpected given his recent health struggles. His body of work could always have expanded, but it really also feels as complete as it needed to be - like much of his work, just enough was wrapped up while the voyeur was left with a feeling of open endendness

I've been looking for viable alts to FB since Diaspora had its moment. For a wide variety of issues w/ FB's ethics reasons.
