Really uplifting evening last night at Leith Academy's end of year awards ceremony. Huge congratulations to all the amazing young people who had their achievements recognised 👏

Political campaigning in general & by-elections in particular are a great way of seeing bits of Edinburgh (& elsewhere) that you wouldn't otherwise.

Tonight, the Rosemount Buildings - what a gem!

I assume that someone knows stuff about them - @threadinburgh.scot or @stevenrobb.bsky.social?

I was quoted in Sunday's @scotnational.bsky.social - Prof Ken Gibb of Glasgow University agrees with my assessment that the student accommodation development bubble mascotny be bursting. Developers haven't recognised that yet, so @edinburghcouncil.bsky.social must look to act.

Sums it up. 15 yrs of Westminster austerity has caused misery, public services slashed & benefits cut, anaemic economic growth, fuelling Brexit vote & rise of Reform.

Labour promised change but are continuing failed Tory austerity. Scotland's only way for a better future is through independence.

Absolutely unacceptable that this tree stump and broken pavement in Restalrig still hasn't been dealt with by @edinburghcouncil.bsky.social. The tree came down in Storm Eowyn - now over three months ago. I've escalated this with senior council officers.

Seafield will likely change a lot over coming years, transforming into a residential area. We need new homes but developmt must work as a whole & benefit existing communities.

Very productive litter pick this morning with Friends of Figgate Park - a good spring clean. The end of single use vapes can't come soon enough!

Over the moon to see work starting on installing lighting on the path through Baronscourt Park behind Morrisons - something I've been pushing for since I was elected.

It's a great walking and cycling route for folk getting their shopping and will feel safer in the dark nights.

Happy to say, looks very much like it is!

The Council is consulting on planning guidance for purpose-built student accommodation. If, like me, you're concerned about the amount of student flats that are being built in our area, make sure you have your say:

The boiler is now fixed at Craigentinny Community Centre back at my usual location for advice surgeries - 5.30pm, first Monday of the month.

Off to Piershill Library next for my 6.30 surgery.

If you need my help, please get in touch or come along!

Just had the below response - I'm hoping there will be action taken soon to get all the graffiti cleared off.

Delighted to get cross-party support for my proposal to investigate how Edinburgh Council can require highly profitable businesses like student accommodation blocks & Airbnbs to pay for commercial waste, rather than being allowed to use domestic services paid for by our Council Tax.

Amazing shift put in this weekend by Friends of Meadowfield Park, planting trees. If you head up by the spider's web climbing frame, you'll see 💪🌲

I see we're back to austerity as some sort of signifier of virility. This you'd expect from the Tories, and apparently now 'Big Man' Starmer's Labour.

Over the moon Lady Nairne has its bus back!

When as a local cllr your efforts to restore a vital service that will improve lives of local people pays off, it reminds you, amid the crisis enveloping the council, why this job is really worthwhile.

The amazing new play area in Figgate Park was funded by @thesnp.bsky.social government support - delighted that more places round the city will be benefitting.
