Finally home from MagicCon Atlanta! My first magiccon and it was a blast! Got to meet some of my favorite creators, just wish I hadn't been too shy and asked for more pictures when I could. But that means more reason to go back next year! Made some new friends and saw great art and cosplay too!

Today was the can of Fish Wife Sardines with Hot Peppers in olive oil. Very strong taste and smell of the sardines, and the heat definitely came through after. Very delicious and filling, especially with a squeeze of lemon to cut some of that oily richness.

The lemon slice is squished slightly, showing it has been squeezed onto the sardine.

A very delicious meal of sardines and lettuce, they were rich and with a hint of lemon. The hot sauce helped to cut some of that richness and add a bit more nuance to the citrus notes.

Got some new cans of sardines and tried these first, absolutely amazing! Especially with a little hot sauce to top them.

My oven had a busy day today! A ham and swiss cheese puff pastry with sautéed spinach, onion and, garlic. And a rack of ribs, cooked low over 5 hours.
A ham and swiss cheese puff pastry with sautéed spinach, onion and, garlic. A golden brown pastry on baked parchment paper on a tray in a kitchen. The pastry is decorated with lines running left to right then others going right to left to create a diamond pattern on it. A cross section of the ham, swiss, spinach, onion and, garlic puff pastry on a plate on an oven. The pastry is flaky and golden and the insides are filled with veg, hot cheese and ham. A rack of ribs, cooked low over 5 hours. The ribs are dark brown on top from a heavy coating of homemade rub, consisting of brown sugar, cumin, dried oregano, chipotle powder, black pepper, salt, paprika, cinnamon and, mustard powder.

Making some pickles for the first time, hope they come out good!

The jar on the left has the same assortment of ingredients, except the cucumbers are cut into discs. Each jar is filled with a brine solution of water, white vinegar, salt and sugar.

Some wisdom from my downtown area.

The mighty barnacle, this delightful crustacean inspired pure vitriol in Charles Darwin.

Steelhead trout and roasted sweet potatoes I had for dinner last night. Fucking delicious.
A well seasoned cut of steelhead trout, a pink flesh fish. Plated next to roasted cuts of sweet potato. The fish is seasoned with salt, lemon pepper, garlic powder and, onion powder. Cooked in a pan with butter, two minutes skin side up and six minutes skin side down. The sweet potatoes are coated in avocado oil and seasoned with salt, black pepper and, garlic powder. Then roasted in the oven at 425 for 20 minutes tossed halfway through.
