That book is my "goal math text" (if there be such a thing): I'm working to get my math up to the point where I can understand and appreciate your book. The course you did on chaos for The Great Courses proved to be a wonderful introduction and inspiration to greater exploration and understanding

I'm also refreshing (read: relearning) my calculus, with an eye to learning differential equations, which is where I hit the wall at university. Everyone learns differently, so if you haven't already, I'd encourage you to explore a variety of approaches: books, video, maybe even math-oriented coding

Yeah, attempting to isolate in a shared house will certainly make for a challenging few days but hopefully his symptoms remain mild and you can avoid catching it.

FWIW, after the first night of teeth-chattering chills, my wife did opt for Paxlovid. Symptoms remained manageable thereafter+no rebound

I don't think you (by which I really mean we) are too old to learn math. Sure, our brains might not be quite as nimble as when we were, say, 20, but it's never too late to start learning something new. What sort or level of mathematics are you interested in?

My wife took part in this study, which I believe is still going on, in case your husband's interested: redcapstsi.scripps.edu/redcap/surve...

Fingers crossed for a speedy recovery. My wife is a teacher, and she managed to go 3+ years without getting covid, but the virus finally found her last month at the start of the school year. She had a good run, but as you said, it was only a matter of time...
