I understand the outrage but personally I find the practice helpful in avoiding paralysis by fear and to remind me of the people I love and what’s at stake. Your mileage may vary.

The comparison is correct. Improvements in exercise, diet and food quality could lower chronic disease a lot. That doesn’t mean we should drop the acute disease protections he is intent on dropping…the ones science brought us a long way.

It might be worth mentioning the image has pretty much the optimum qualities to showcase the Amigas strengths and not show its weaknesses. Even so, an amazing machine at debut and ahead of the competition for years afterwards.

The Expanse. I was a new father when Galactica first aired and 8 minutes into the pilot I had to turn it off and lie down.

One of the things I remember is the use of no-needle hypodermic
guns (jet injectors) for mass inoculations at school. Very fast.

These things take a lot of energy to produce but models small enough to run on a laptop and still be almost as good/bad. That’s how I personally run them. See ollama for instance.

Don’t forget beer quality control; that generated a lot of modern statistics too( or at least what was modern when I was studying statistics in the ‘80’s). I wasn’t aware of a eugenics connection. Yikes.

Personally I am mostly going with ‘Everybody Knows’ by Leonard Cohen and Sharon Robinson but the Johnny Cash “Hurt” fits all too well.

All I want for these stupid, stupid, people is to have a roof over their bed, a full belly when they go to bed, and not having to live in fear of being bankrupted by a hospital bill.

It's deeply frustrating and depressing that they would rather see me dead.

I was in a STEM program back in the day. They forced us to take philosophy and other humanities…some of which I made fun of at the time. Decades later I still find myself thinking about those philosophy, history, anthropology courses. I’d be less of a person without them.

One thing that spooks me is Libby E-books read on Kindle. My library doesn’t keep a record but I wonder if Amazon does.

Some libraries switched to a system where only current checkouts are recorded. At return the record is destroyed. Takes care of one case anyways.
