I reviewed Paul Pierson and Eric Schickler, Partisan Nation, for Publius: The Journal of Federalism. Their explanation of Madisonian gone sour gave me a chance to noodle a bit on what institutionalism does, and does not, explain about the state we're in. academic.oup.com/publius/adva...
