Bit too grimdark for me.

Been looking at Dystopian Wars, Armoured Clash, Warcrow, Konflict 47, Epic Warpath, Warmachine and a few other things. Something that requires fewer models would be good, that way I might actually get to play.

Or maybe the better path is to find something I really enjoy painting.

That said, I am also getting a bit fed up with the GW model of constantly spamming rules updates and supplement books that take up money that could be used on models and create an administrative burden that I'm not sure I can be bothered with anymore.

Quite like the look of Cities of Sigmar in AoS. If they get a second wave with the new Battletome when it comes that could be a winner.

If the rumours about Kislev are correct that might be a good faction to go with. Though if they decide to update any of the older sculpts in the Empire or Brettonia or Dwarfs I might be tempted.

Been looking at AoS and Old World too. Wish a faction from Old world really grabbed me as it would be good to get back into a game that's still very close in design to what I played when I was younger. Cathay are quite cool I suppose. I love the Sentinel model.

I don't particularly like how Chaos is presented in 40k so if I do carry on with 40k it might be with Xenos factions only.

I know 30K is arguably a technically better rule system, but I'm just not feeling it in terms of seeing anything and thinking 'I want some of those'.

And now I'm feeling a bit adrift. Sometimes I feel a bit turned off from 40k, though it might be just that I'm increasingly turned off from Imperial factions, which have been the ones I have dabbled in most over the years.

Then for about 48 hours I was suddenly really keen on starting 30k with the new Custodes models, but that faded pretty quickly. I guess they don't really speak to me as an idea beyond being amazing models.
