They were all legends to us. Early 90s IU was really something.

This morning I’m thinking about Trent Green, Vaughn Dunbar, Charles Beauchamp, Bernard Whittington, Rob Turner, Steve Goodrich, Mike Dumas, Steve Perkins, Mike Middleton, Mark Hagen, Scott Bonnell, Toby Kerns, Tim O’Connell, Thomas Lewis and the team manager that used to steal all the warmups.

And now here we are so many years from 1990 … I’ll be drinking coffee and maybe work in the yard a little before the game. (Does MGD still exist?)

But we could never take the next step. Wisconsin got good. Penn State entered. Even Northwestern was going to Rose Bowls. And we were terrible year after year, decade after decade.

We had a good coach, a handful of pros and a steady run of bowl seasons from the late 80s through early 90s.

OSU was good but no where near what the are nowadays. Michigan was the only scary team in the B1G back then.
