Am three levels into Ninja Gaiden 4 on New Game Master Ninja difficulty (pardon the bad ranks, I'm just tryna survive here).
Gotta say, if you can get past the very first non-tutorial battle (and get to the shop), the rest of the game becomes MUCH more manageable. Nothing else comes close to that.

Just rolled credits on Ninja Gaiden 4.
I had a wonderful time! It's hard to say how it stacks up to the other games (there's some stuff that I worry will get stale after another dozen or so playthroughs), but in terms of a first playthough, I'd rank them like this:
NG Black > NG4 > NG2 > NG3RE

I've gone back and forth on this, but I really do think Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z is the worst game I've ever beaten.
There are a few bright spots in there, but they just serve to highlight how wretched the rest of the package is.
