To see it changed to target a wider audience leaves a bitter taste, because it feels like the original material is just "used" for another purpose than a passionate follow up to a beloved franchise

I'm by no means a hardcore DA fan, absolutely loved DA:O tho
But for those that are fans, I understand how that sting
It's rare to have the opportunity to have such long continuity

The art direction had some cool idea, the geometrical space elf tech ? The over the top italian crow assassin ? Cool, not my thing, and not what I have in mind when I think about DA

And I think that's the divide, some people are more attached to what DA was, others are okay w/ the new take

Kinda got the vibe that Veilguard wanted to distance itself from the original. The art direction and narration felt much more ... mainstream ? The dark fantasy shifted to epic fantasy, or at least the dark fantasy elements felt goofier

I think that's why it is appealing to new players
