I know it’s been said again and again, but what does it say about ChatControl that its backers keep explicitly *exempting* law enforcement and national security accounts from content scanning?

And they’re right to do this! It’s an incredibly bad idea to expose your defense organizations to this threat. Recent attacks like Salt Typhoon on our LE wiretapping infrastructure have rendered US telecoms completely insecure against state adversaries. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salt_Ty...

shot, but the sky was so clear I forgot about the cold, I was in absolute awe at what I was seeing. The pinky area a 3rd of the way up the Milky Way is the North America nebula and in the top left you just about make out the Andromeda galaxy.

In the Malheur National Forest in Michigan there is a single fungus that stretches nearly four square miles underground with a combined weight of around 35000 tons and an estimated lifespan of around 8500 years. It's the oldest of five humongous funguses within the forest, each genetically distinct.

Not sure if I have it in me to start yet another online identity, form/find another community, etc. I was on Twitter for 15+ years, have been on Mastodon for several years now, and was on IRC and Usenet for a long time before any of that. I guess we'll see what comes of this ...
