The Small Magellanic Cloud (SMC) is a dwarf galaxy near the Milky Way. Classified as a dwarf irregular galaxy and contains several hundred million stars. At a distance of about 200,000 light-years, it is one of the most distant objects visible to the naked eye.

✨ Deep in the constellation, Scorpius lies a cosmic masterpiece: the Prawn Nebula (IC 4628). This stunning emission nebula, about 6,000 light-years away, glows with rich reds and pinks as newborn stars energize clouds of hydrogen gas.

Last night, I pointed my lens deep into the southern skies and captured something out of this world, literally. Meet NGC 6188, also known as The Fighting Dragons of Ara 🐉✨

In the dark of Sagittarius, 5,000 light years away lies the Lagoon Nebula, where stars are born in violence. Sculpted by the fury of Herschel 36, a young star burning with the light of 200,000 suns. Its ultraviolet rage carves the nebula’s heart, while infant stars flicker awake in the dust.

Last night’s adventure: I captured the Lagoon Nebula, a stellar nursery 4,000 light-years from home. Every swirl and glow is a sign of new stars being born.
Look closely, you’ll see clouds of gas and dust where these cosmic wonders come to life.

It was my first time using my SeeStar S50 for a while. The night sky has been cloudy for months. It's also my first time using the S50 equatorial mounted. So here is last nights image of IC 2944, The Running Chicken Nebula. 388 images at 30 second exposures.
