I want to preserve the beauty & integrity of our night skies. Focusing mainly on raising awareness about the effects of light pollution, not only on astronomy but also on wildlife, human health & energy waste. - Dr Chris Spencer (aka @PixelatedDad)
I laid outside for a few hours last night, enjoying the cool air. Saw a few meteors and took a few images. The moon dominated the sky (making it a little too bright to do any deep sky object but it was still worth dragging the gear out to take a photo of her) 🔭🌝 #UKhot #astro

60 seconds of today’s solar activity in hydrogen alpha. A huge prominence is lifting off the limb.

⚠️Never look at the Sun without proper solar filters.

The skywatcher Heliofind mount is amazing in this configuration. Super simple to setup and zero issues tracking the sun. Great for outreach.

I have to say I’m loving the Acuiter Hydrogen Alpha scope… amazing solar views from this piece of kit.. (Not sponsored in anyway, just an honest post) and no the warning sun shield does not come with it, I made it to save the side of my face when viewing :-)

Some massive solar prominences happening today. This taken just now via a hydrogen alpha solar scope image doesn’t do it justice.(single frame shot no stacking)

⚠️ Please never look at the sun without the correct equipment..

Last night’s Moon, captured with a Seestar (3 mins of RAW stacked in-app) from the loverly skies over the Canary Islands, minimal light pollution.

Snapped this last night under clear skies.

Moon fact: The same side of the Moon always faces Earth, it’s called synchronous rotation. So even though the Moon orbits us, we only ever see her familiar face.

Be part of the solution:

Use motion sensors

Switch to 2700K or lower bulbs

Shield your outdoor lights

Light at night affects more than sleep. It disrupts nocturnal animals, bird migrations, and pollinators. Darkness matters — for all of us. #DarkSkyWeek #ProtectTheNight #day4

Skyglow from poorly aimed lighting drowns out the stars for 80% of the world’s population. It's time to reclaim the night — one shielded fixture at a time. #DarkSkyWeek #ReclaimTheNight #Day2

Light pollution isn’t just a stargazer’s problem — it disrupts wildlife, wastes energy, and affects our health. This week, let's talk about what we can do about it. #DarkSkyWeek #LightPollution

My night sky camera caught this over Nottinghamshire just now, apparently a rocket fuel dump? Looks like the whirlpool galaxy way closer than it should be! Someone messing with our render distance? 🤣🤣 #astro

I’ve just been reviewing my night sky camera. I believe I caught the fireball over Nottinghamshire in the UK reported in the news early hours of the 19th Feb at 03:44 (about 10 seconds in on this video) the news seems to say it’s a booster re-entering and burning up Is that true? 😬 #astro #cool

Little proud dad moment last night. My daughter has moved on to our main scope at training evenings, it won’t be long before she can solo operate! This girl amazes me everyday. 💕🔭 #astro #prouddad

Yay a clear night here in the UK. Just been out with my scope and took this.

The Fish Head Nebula (IC 1795) is a striking star-forming region located in the constellation Cassiopeia, near the Heart and Soul Nebulae.
