Oh, Genevieve. Did you have any idea what a couple days of work filming scenes deleted from RotS would eventually lead to? #Andor

So, uh … that Ghorman arc last night … #Andor

"I have a lengthy backstory that explains how [Bo-Katan] became a Death Watch soldier that goes all the way back to the time she and Satine are six ... about who their father was and what their relationships were and everything with [Pre] Vizsla … and Obi-Wan Kenobi."

Just two boys heading to Mina-Rau/Mandalore in the red uniforms of the enemy in a janky ship on a solo rescue mission to save their loved ones. What could possibly go wrong?

(11/11) Maul's eyes close, and in the last shot we see Satine (the last manifestation of Maul's conscious mind? An apparition? A Force ghost?) still watching over him as he lies in her beloved Jedi's arms.

(8/11) At the same time, perhaps Maul recognizes that Satine's voice in his head is a call to the Light that he has always rejected. How she was at peace before her death & how he could have that peace too, if only he'd turn from the path of revenge he thinks is the only way.
April 19, 2025 at 5:24 AM
(7/11) Maul amasses power but all the while, popping up at the most inopportune times, is the Duchess of Mandalore, either standing serenely in the background & (in Maul's mind) silently judging him or perhaps interjecting her own opinions.
Just imagine the banter between them:
April 19, 2025 at 5:24 AM
(4/11) (Satine's place in Maul's mind is also suggested by an earlier script/storyboard of Maul and Obi-Wan's final showdown. Maul's line is, "I took your master. I took your beloved... I will hunt down whatever ... no ... whoever it is you are protecting and take them as well.")
April 19, 2025 at 5:22 AM
(3/11) He also scratches out her eyes, which doesn't make a lot of sense until you know that in "Twin Suns" Maul was originally going to be plagued by visions of Savage and Satine while he goes mad in the Tatooine deserts, something that suggests Maul feels “Satine” watching him.
April 19, 2025 at 5:21 AM
(2/11) It's implied that Maul physically attacks the portrait. He slashes Satine's throat (over and over), suggesting that the need for revenge against Obi-Wan that he had hoped would be satisfied by killing Satine still resides in him.

(1/11) If Disney is smart, they'll make Satine Kryze a main character in the Star Wars - Maul: Shadow Lord show & I'm 1000% serious.

In Rebels, we see Maul stole Satine's portrait & created a shrine with the Darksaber he used to kill her. He also scrawled "KENOBI" on the wall in Mando'a.

That makes her presence within Death Watch seem strange, but I think that can also be explained away when you know that Clan Wren is a vassal clan within House Vizsla, and it's very possible that as a Clan Wren leader, Ursa was conscripted into Death Watch by Pre Vizsla himself.
April 19, 2025 at 3:10 AM
Either way, it’s an interesting connection that suggests that though Ursa was a member of Death Watch, she may have appreciated Satine or even supported her during her reign.
The fact that her husband, Alrich, is not a warrior and may even be a pacifist could also support this.

Or b) Bo-Katan gave Ursa Satine’s dress after Satine's death to be used in Ursa's portrait (which would have been made after Death Watch was disbanded). Ursa made the dress less conservative to fit her own style by removing the bit around the shoulders and shortening the sleeves.
April 19, 2025 at 3:09 AM
Depending on when the portrait was painted, I like to think that either
a) Satine was considered a fashion icon during her reign and clothing inspired by her wardrobe was made for others. It would make sense that Countess Ursa and other Mandalorian nobles would observe such trends.
April 19, 2025 at 3:07 AM
🧵We need to talk about how in Star Wars Rebels, Ursa Wren is wearing a dark-green, off-the-shoulder dress in her portrait similar to Satine’s TCW S3 dress. If you don’t think one is supposed to evoke the other, look at the identical chokers. This was a conscious design choice.
