Tbh with Aus you *very much* can use so much renewables to fill the gap of fossil fuels in a stable fashion.

UK's a bit "well the gap in renewables is filled by Nuclear and Gas" because other than NIMBYism a chunk of reliable renewable for UK is either off-shore wind or "flood a valley to do hydro"

If you'd like some more information on the situation, the former admins and dev team has posted this:

+1, so far Firebot has suited all my needs but also I don't have *that* much "advanced" on my stream

However if generative "AI" is to be involved in the decisions I want 0 Nuclear Power ha ha no do not allow the lying machine to advise on that :)

Also if you're gonna link me articles, don't link paywalled ones :)

I didn't say what I said because I blindly believe in shoving Uranium or Thorium in to rods and setting off a controlled reaction with neutrons to heat some water.

then yes I *obviously* would prefer that however the issue is that point I made earlier "baseline power"
- If somehow Nuclear Fusion stops being vapourware I'll push for that given the potential energy output and significantly less hazards wow yippee!

- If renewables can fill the gap both quickly and be stable in the long term in countries like the UK where we have limited land and fairly unpredictable weather, without disproportionately moving more entire towns and villages (go look up some of our reservoirs on that, particularly Wales :) )
November 18, 2025 at 5:11 PM
- I obviously know it can be significantly dangerous, I am quite keenly aware of how nuclear energy works (it was kind of my best modules at uni let alone can gesture at incidents that are either caused by error or by a set of incidents with an outdated reactor type)

Also because I'm getting responses:

- I believe in the Nuclear Fission power because for a baseline power it needs to be there in place to continue the phase out of fossil fuels. I obviously do not view it as a "cure" for climate change but as a stopgap to phase out worse things for the climate.

Because English isn't taught to a high standard in most those countries so "weirder" things like using the letter "x" is often not covered beyond limited examples

My English qualification is considered one of the lowest in the world and I'm from England. Yippee!
