Rob Zombie's HALLOWEEN II is still the best showcase of what it'd really be like to survive a slasher. Not that realism should be expected, but it's refreshing to see weight given to one of the most traumatic experiences one could have.

The first five seasons* of AMERICAN HORROR STORY are some of the genre's best in the 21st century. Horror should be transgressive, not impressive, and they're definitely that.
*Haunted houses aren't my thing so it's seasons 2-5, for me.
