ICE agents masked and without identification. ICE prisons overcrowded with brutal treatment. ICE capturing innocent citizens. ICE snatching mothers, removing them from the US, from their nursing infants. ICE preventing gravely ill children from getting life saving treatment. ICE complicit in severe human rights violations. ICE agents doing the very thing that aged Nazis are still being tried and arrested for. None of this makes America great or safe. It makes the U.S. and international pariah. None of this solves immigration problems. It's time to do congressional oversight on ICE and its private prison contractors. You must do oversight and rein in this lawless terror.

I am also outraged that Congress is now adding to this damage instead of defending the constitution and rule of law. Your failure to impeach all presiding over this lawless constitution-violating executive branch will be studied by historians as a heinous moral failure. Every day that you do not take steps to rein in and impeach Trump you are enabling the destruction of our democracy, our rights, the rule of law, and our collective well being. Why has Congress has collectively ceded its powers and abandoned its constitutional role? The GOP is now actively working to damage their constituents' health, well-being, rights, and even survival. Look at the cuts to access to health care: 700 billion cut from Medicaid and PAYGO cuts Medicare projected to be $500 billion. GOP representatives also voted for dozens of other measures equally harmful to their constituents. Why? All so they could partially offset a $7 trillion tax cut for millionaires and corporations. All this after they and the president promised not to. And for whose good? For tax cuts for the billionaires. Consider the effects of the cuts to USAID: deaths. Starving children. Consider the lifting of regulations on air and water pollution-- those too will result in illness. You should be losing sleep over those deaths abroad and at home. We did NOT vote for America to become a failing democracy guilty of human rights abuses, betraying our allies, on international monitoring lists for these failures. We did NOT vote for American science and medical research to be destroyed. We did NOT vote for books to be burned or for people to be kidnapped for exercising their freedom of expression. We did NOT ask Congress to enable the President to become a dictator issuing illegal and unconstitutional executive orders and defying court orders. It's time for Congress to wake up. STOP THIS COUP. DO YOUR JOB. KEEP YOUR OATH. Every time Trump issues an unconstitutional EO, your oath REQUIRES your to speak out and CONDEMN his betrayal of the constitution. It's time to IMPEACH TRUMP. If kidnapping students for their political views was not enough, will it take the kidnapping of a member of Congress to make you act? Was the arrest of the Mayor of Newark not enough? In less than 4 months, the US has become a police state where masked and un-uniformed secret police can kidnap citizens and non-citizens alike for expressing opinions against the regime--and then these kidnap victims can be removed to remote locations. Now the US is a nation where elected representatives doing legally permitted oversight can be threatened with arrest-- or arrested. And lied about. YES, that is the USA today. Now private-for-profit corporations can run detention facilities that do not meet mandatory legal safety inspection criteria. Agents of the government such as Stephen Miller can threaten to suspend a foundational right in the constitution and bedrock of the English and Anglo-American common law tradition. This is happening here and now. You should be collectively horrified at the way you and your colleagues have enabled this. It is an unconscionable betrayal of the constitution that you swore to support and defend. Please, SPEAK OUT immediately against the abuses perpetrated by ICE. CONDEMN the LIES being put out by HHS (even in their government website) which falsely claim that members of Congress "stormed" an ICE facility. What are you going to do about all this? Please reply in writing to tell me that you understand the gravity and danger of these circumstances. Tell me what actions you will take: oversight, legislation, public statements and impeachment are all urgently necessary. Please, undertake them without delay. DO YOUR JOB.
