A couple years after me, another mother at the same agency sued and got her baby back because she was able to prove coercion - the agency didn't do anything to her that wasn't done to every other mother, including mine. But most can't prove it and didn't have family willing to help them like she did

She had no idea she was legally allowed to change her mind up to 6 weeks after the birth - despite hospital staff being there and hearing her scream "don't take my baby away" and sob until they knocked her out when they took me to the nursery.

The 'counselling' my mother was offered was writing lists of what she could offer vs what adopters could and being repeatedly told by the agency nuns that she would be a horrible mother because she was young, unmarried, and had nothing to offer but love against the adopters' "2 parents" and money.
