I was today years old when I learned about the `at` command in the unix shell??

Very useful for if I want to lazily do something non-critical in the near future. Like I upload a file for a friend, send them the link, tell them it's getting deleted in an hour, and then do

$ echo 'rm the_file' | […]

If you have a lot of art: paintings, drawings etc. HOW do you enjoy them?

For a long time I couldn't afford much art. So I always framed it right away and hung it up. But, the walls are a little crowded now. Considering a system where I rotate the art every half year? Seasonally? I would also […]

Was randomly reminded of this little drawing toy I made on a plane on the way back from Eyeo 2015. Very simple but I still like it! I think 80% of the charm comes from the dropdown menu.

Requires a mouse, last I checked.

I think the main thing that I like about html+js game engines is they make creating menus easier. This is because you're writing games in a menu engine instead of menus in a game engine. And at least from where I sit... the former is actually kind of easier, or at least it moves the friction to […]

I gotta say... I met so many cool people at W3C #tpac

It was especially great meeting all the incredible champions who have dedicated their careers to accessibility work.

I have autocompletion on the command line for git branch names, tag names, commit hashes... basically any commits or named commit pointers.

A lot of my working branches start with my username, "dariusk"

Sometimes I get very lazy and type "git checkout da" and then tab for autocomplete and get […]

Then I remembered, oh right, I literally released a tool for this last […]

Just wanted to surface this long comment from me on the state of #hometown and its future:

https://github.com/hometown-fork/hometown/issues/1358#issuecomment-3549758036

I've been an absentee on the "Future of Hometown" thread for a year now and plan to be more responsive. I say more about it […]

Donations pre-taxes this year amount to:
- €13.3k net (direct)
- €4265 net (ko-fi)

I've also been able to request payment from my NLNet grant for FediMod FIRES, which everyone, including Mastodon, have been asking for this year.

The goal of FediMod FIRES is to empower moderation teams to share […]

Really nice list of "today-I-learned" facts about HTML/CSS/JS from Manuel Matuzović:

Among other things on the list it taught me about the existence of the "nullish coalescing operator" in JS, wild.

The list hasn't been updated since 2023 but just in case you want to […]
