Yeah, I'm miffed as the county chair in Utah County. We had a reasonable shot at flipping two seats and giving an incentive for a SLC dominated state party to invest outside of the county.
Now...nope.

We recommend using this over alternatives for several reasons
1) its measured at the party level, not an estimate of average parties in the system
2) we aggregate up but also also measure intra-system variation
3) measures of PI/PS relative to parties solely in democracies or autocracies

That maps a lot more sense based on the structure of Utah.

No, Utah passed a ballot initiative several years ago creating non-partisan rules for redistricting that the legislature tried to override. The judiciary overruled them and created this map.

This also means Ben McAdams will have an easy race with little need to build infrastructure on the Dem side outside of Salt Lake while also losing down-ballot help in places that need it.

Let's rephrase this: The President is going to unilaterally direct the distribution of funds out of the US Treasury without Congress's permission using taxes Congress did not authorize

I'd have to take a closer look at Labour,
But my on-the-ground experience suggests that these parties are terrible at linking to voters. Like, they don't even attempt to talk to them in person.

I get the Americanist understanding, and don't want to dismiss it.
But it is striking that old center-left (and even their center-right) parties in the most advanced industrialized countries have face planted hard in the past 10 years.
But in other places the center-left appears resilient
