Goes on to say that the extra money was earmarked for Schwarber specifically and to not expect them to spend the money on “other expensive free agents”

He did say there was another team at 4/120. I would think that’s the Reds but if it was, why not just add the extra year, man. Unless you were making an offer that you knew he’d never accept.

Agreed. I hate that move in a vacuum. The timing makes me connect imaginary dots and formulate desperate fantasy moves to scrape together some millionaire’s fake money though.

Could Meyers/Bennett Sousa be a return for Singer with maybe a prospect swap? Offload money and get your LHR/platoon partner for Benson.

I still think BWill gets converted to a RP and, assuming health, the plan is:

High leverage: Pagan, Santillan, GA, Phillips

LHP: Moll, BWill

Low leverage: Maxwell

Long man: Thompson

AAA: Mey, Kuncl, Zulueta, Lyon (with the last 2 DFA candidates to make room on the 40 man)

Arroyo in the lineup for Chattanooga also

I completely forgot we have an open 40 man spot
April 7, 2025 at 8:09 PM
IF we ever get healthy, and I have doubts that we ever do, that looks so much better and would allow guys not to press as much. Our bench there is Espinal, Trevino, Fraley/Benson(?), and Dunn(?), which isn’t great but better than what we have now.

I’m less “I want to see Will Benson” and more “I want Spencer Steer to have a full IL stint”. At that point call up Benson, Hinds, Marte, Callihan, whoever. Benson or Hinds probably make the most sense.

I’m hoping it’s not that or an injury. I want to keep the positive vibes for at least a series before the pessimism bursts through like the Kool Aid Man

That’s the only reason I can come up with. Don’t necessarily agree with it. It’ll hopefully work itself out when Hays gets back (and when Steer can hopefully play the field at some point).

I’m going to assume it’s because they want to give Friedl an off day the first week and this is the only LHP we see until Thursday. Lux gets “off days” as the DH. I’m okay with Friedl getting off days more occasionally than most because of his recent history with soft tissue injuries.

Takes 3 days to go through waivers. Should hear about all of these guys today.
March 30, 2025 at 11:51 AM
Are not*. Obviously, hopefully
March 14, 2025 at 9:46 PM
Looking at this, it’s hard to get scared of the bottom of that order. Hopefully Steer and TySteve are out for long. (And Trevino’s exit is precautionary because then the bottom gets that much worse.)
March 14, 2025 at 9:42 PM
Agree that’s likely what we see OD.

vLHP:

Friedl 8
McLain 4
Elly 6
Hays 7
Candy DH
CES 3
Espinal 5
Stu 9
Trevino 2

Does that say Alfredo Duno? Has he gotten into a game yet this Spring?
March 12, 2025 at 6:45 PM
I think if Steer starts the year on the IL then he’s replaced by one of Dunn/Hurtubuise/Benson. But if god forbid anybody else gets hurt, especially on the IF, I think it’s Bowman that gets the call. He’s still insurance everywhere and shouldn’t be sent back until the final cuts.
