I think the best explanation I can give is this: I would use "la comida era" when talking about a restaurant that no longer exist and you can't enjoy anymore

In my current place they ran a trial of both Amazon Q and GH Copilot this year. A few dozen devs were put in each trial and the ones on Q (I was on Copilot) were complaining a lot and lots of them dropped/switched before the end of the trial.

And considering that lots of launches have many issues, waiting some time makes more sense
