“Longing. Rusted. Seventeen. Daybreak…” No, I will not comply.
Burge et al. also suggest "we need to rethink the appropriate unit of analysis" for affiliation, and I’d extend that to categories of identity as well. Many young folks see their faith in terms of who they share values with, and pursue common goals with, not what services they attend (or don’t).

The piece identifies "mounting evidence that the widely used reltrad [‘religious tradition’] scheme contains serious flaws… nondenominationals who attended at least once a month were sorted into the evangelical category. If they attended less… they were left unclassified and omitted from analysis."

Great question. I don’t presume to have the full answer, but it seems Gen’s Z and Alpha find far more significance in community than programming. Smietana’s above article mentions the excellent research of Ryan Burge, who co-wrote an insightful paper in 2023: static1.squarespace.com/static/66194...

He relied on lies and propaganda, and dismissed victims of gun violence and disposable collateral, but hey at least the religious right has a fresh martyr to make up stories about, yeah? The most vulnerable people will be the ones who suffer for this… that’s the only moral loss here.

Short answer no… but unlike with old Woodrow, a Stalinesque power struggle seems much more likely than Melania taking up the reins.

Not bitter, just matching energy with the piece that states its author is exclusively right and ‘Emily’ wrong. That’s inherently judgmental as hell. All I know is that the Dickinson poem has repeatedly helped save my life;; so I’m a bit averse to seeing someone shit on it for a giggle, that’s all.

The article you linked states that “the study does not show that acetaminophen directly causes neurodevelopmental disorders,” but merely aggregated other studies, some of which noted slightly higher correlation - not causation in any way. Critical reading skills really are a game changer.

The beautiful chaos of human existence is that many things can all be true. Whoever wrote this response clearly had a big bucket of bitterness stored up, but the fact is that Hope can be both things, and whatever the hell else it needs be for an individual to endure and overcome. Don’t fuckin judge.

Bold assumption to think he actually knows what happened to Il Duce in the end 🙃

@davidfrenchjag.bsky.social this is a tragically accurate description of your friend Isgur and her ilk. Are y’all done both-sides-ing yet? A couple years ago you scoffed at parallels between MAGA and 30’s German national socialists in their Munich beer hall. Still think it’s absurd now, do ya?

/7 SCOTUS, the Federalist Society, the entire academic and intellectual infrastructure that brought us here: they're nothing but pretentious Trumpers. At least the guy in the MAGA hat and "fuck your feelings" t-shirt is honest about who he is. These people are not.
