Later this year the UN climate talks (COP30) will be in Brazil & the importance of protecting & restoring the Amazon & other forests will be in the spotlight. The recent tipping points conference identified the loss of the Amazon as one of the 3 tipping points of most concern.

Environment Minister Murray Watt announced he’ll table new nature laws by the end of this year. Strong nature laws mean clean air, healthy rivers, thriving wildlife, real jobs & safe climate for our kids. It’s up to the Albanese Government to deliver the laws that nature needs to protect our future.

Darebin Climate Action Now met with local MP Ged Kearney this morning calling on her to press the Government to announce strong targets for carbon emissions. DCAN is campaigning for net zero emissions by 2035 and a separate target for drawing down carbon from the atmosphere.
