wtf these are strictly unprofessional takeaways

3. Game makers are a bunch of creative freaks, and giving them a platform to be outrageous and vulnerable leads to magic. Business oriented conferences, whilst growing increasingly expensive, are becoming repulsively vibeless, lack identity, and ask speakers and guests to water themselves down.

2. Lots of people are hurting in our industry and across the world and it's not "professional" to talk about it. Unshackling the mantle of professionalism creates spaces where we can actually connect and build community. We don't need to suffer alone.

It's more helpful, by my taste, for talented, interesting, successful people to get up and say "Hey this is a little fucked and weird but it worked", "I'm not sure if this is why it worked but here are my thoughts", "this worked for me but it might not work for you"

my biggest thoughts are this...

1. Leaning into casual dialogue makes the content more valuable. Making games in an ever-shifting landscape cannot be distilled into one-size-fits all solutions, and formalities inherently push speakers to walk this doomed path. The best wisdom is packaged casually.
