I took my time with this piece and focused on keeping it loose. At the very end, I added a few veins and crisp edges to the leaves.

I’m stoked with how this quick study came out! I like the background unfinished with the orange-red tone showing, but I can’t decide if it’s too distracting.

What do y’all think? Keep the orange-red or paint the background neutral/gray to unify it?

Finishing touches on this limited palette still-life! It was fun, but challenging to get back to my artistic roots using only 4 colors: ultramarine blue, burnt Siena, cadmium yellow, and titanium white!

I love working with a limited palette! It’s also a great way to learn when you’re just starting out. I used ultramarine blue, burnt siena, cadmium yellow, and titanium white.

This was my first attempt at painting a grisaille before going in with color and I think it made a huge impact! Because of the values in the grisaille, the light and shadow on wrinkles of the pants is *chef’s kiss*
