What I said struck me as simple.
I read in Rolling Stone 3 or 4yrs ago expensive tanks are built that the army doesn’t want. There outdated and expensive.
But Jordon (maybe Hawley) wouldn’t end them when attempted.
The facilities are in their district.
So: inverse NIMBY. And total waste.

Even w/o raising rates theirs money.
Defense is absurd.
Not bc it’s not important.
It’s usefulness. I remember in RS 3/4yrs back about tanks not even wanted.
Reverse NIMBY.
It’s Jordon I’m almost certain (maybe Hawley) wouldn’t stop funds to their district.
Tell me again about wasteful spending.🤷🏻♂️

Well, these choices can be made it’s just a matter of will and priorities.
I have no problem raising the tax rate back to Clinton levels the last time the budget was balanced.
But as a capitalist I don’t wish to unfairly punish successful people and companies.

As I replied to someone else. I imagine people on Medicaid (likely beneficiaries) aren’t rolling around in funds.
Esp. after such “luxuries” as rent, utilities, etc. That doesn’t factor in childcare and a bunch of other things eating up the budget before using “supplemental” funds.

Apple juice often has significant sugar.
People on Medicaid don’t have lots of money to spend on additional food after factoring in such unnecessary extravagances as rent, heating costs.
This argument is as hollow (and as equally loaded) as when Reagan did it with “welfare queens.”

The argument people on SNAP spend it on the “wrong” stuff has always been BS.
Want them to eat healthier? You’d have to increase funds. Anyone aware of healthy food costs knows this.
Its about two things:
1. Control
2. Disdain people dare use the social safety net.

Is it like Trump when it comes to numbers?
Has he put on a few inches from when they first began. Seems a MAGA tendency.

As a sufferer of lifelong dark mental health I’ve embraced it as panacea.
So much to love: including his embracement of humor to guide one through darknesses.
I’ve long said it should be required reading in high school.
One of the greatest works of literature.

For my undergraduate degree (creative writing) I took a class taught by my mentor, we all had one, mine was head of the writing department.
He taught a course on his 6 or 7 favorite novels, including History.
He said w/few exceptions American esp. seem only capable of one great work.

A lover of gothic fiction as guilty pleasure I find Northanger Abbey delightfully delicious and enthralling.
But Pride and Prejudice, oh my yes, is a magnificent choice. 🙋🏻♂️
But Austen’s oeuvre is just…damn. 🙂

Yes.
Tartt’s career is weird.
She should have got the Pulitzer for A Secret History.
The Pulitzer winner The Goldfinch wasn’t bad but not near Pulitzer worthy imo. It left me cold.
I thought The Little Friend vastly underrated but as her second novel she was doomed regardless.
