He could have just said nothing, which would have been perfectly acceptable. No one should expect the President to weigh in here. He lacks both the basic humanity to say something decent and the impulse control to conceal his indecency.

I've seen fast food managers handle unreasonable angry customer complaints with more grace, decency, and self-control than the First Executive fielding questions about his own statements.
