Also, an interesting point is that both Dantes and Heathcliff were compared to or thought of as vampires. This is an allusion to John Polidori’s landmark story The Vampyre, the titular Lord Ruthwen being a pastiche of Lord Byron.

One comparison between both Dantes and Heathcliff is the fact that both, more or less, were forced away from home only to renter under circumstances that were mysterious to the people around them.
