Of course, it goes without saying that both Heathcliff and Dantes desired revenge against their tormentors as their form of justice. Only the former was entirely corrupted by it and driven into loneliness as a result whereas the latter, more or less, had a happier (tho somewhat bittersweet) ending

A century later, Anne Rice would meld vampires with the Byronic archetype in her Vampire Chronicles with Lestat and Louis: something the AMC adaptation did an marvelous job at portraying.

Also, an interesting point is that both Dantes and Heathcliff were compared to or thought of as vampires. This is an allusion to John Polidori’s landmark story The Vampyre, the titular Lord Ruthwen being a pastiche of Lord Byron.

Of course, in Dantes case, no one aside from Mercedes recognized him whereas folks remembered Heathcliff

One comparison between both Dantes and Heathcliff is the fact that both, more or less, were forced away from home only to renter under circumstances that were mysterious to the people around them.
