I shudder to think about the actual thought he put behind it. He is a contemptible human being.

Do you think Jenrick is thinking about the biblical view of slavery when he mentions Judeo-Christian values?
Maybe the view on woman?

It is staggering how few people make the connection between a quality educational experience for students and happy highly motivated staff!
March 17, 2025 at 10:01 PM
It is a head scratcher.
I too was wondering how this highly privileged, privately educated individual got the job in Ofsted after a career in big accounting firms and investment banks.
Guess we will never know.

You're right, they talk about the 'the Unions' as if they are the enemies of education. More people should educate themselves and find out what a union is and does.
Then join one.
March 17, 2025 at 9:49 PM
Very much agree!
I am a teacher, I worked in an academy that was part of a very large MAT. They treated teachers like a disposable resource. They seemed to prefer NQT's, cheap and did not know any better.
My current LA school is not perfect but a much better place to work.

I kind of look forward to the day that we have to adopt the Euro purely because of Brexit.
The day we actually surrendered a key bit of sovereignty.
I will enjoy the irony.

He was rightly disgusted by the amount of money it took to disrupt Romanian elections.
Everyone knows that it takes at least a quarter of a billion to buy a real democratic election.

I somehow live in a world where an atheist lefty from the UK agrees with Mike Pence.
Very strange times.

Fully investigate all credible allegations against the Church, let it sort its own fall out from their behaviour. If there is more good people in the church than bad, it will be fine. If not? It deserves to fall.

All institutions should be held accountable for failing to protect the vulnerable.
January 30, 2025 at 8:57 PM
Both. They are not mutually exclusive.
January 24, 2025 at 10:09 PM
Time for me to do other things so if I may, one last point of agreement.

I too have little respect for people who do not question themselves.
January 23, 2025 at 10:37 PM
They might be more likely to respond if you are inflammatory. Does it mean they are listening though?

Or does it typically end after a number of posts shouting past each other?
January 23, 2025 at 10:25 PM
There is definitely information and points for me to consider and look into further. I am no expert on the impact of migration and always up for being more informed.

I noticed that of the two I have read so far, neither is as inflammatory in tone or content as your original post.
A fact to ponder?
January 23, 2025 at 10:17 PM
What sources would you recommend to help me be more informed on the matter?
January 23, 2025 at 9:58 PM
Not with your attitude we can't.

Fact is, we rely on immigration. To fill the countries coffers, to fill jobs and to fuel growth. Maybe if our dependency on immigrants and their contributions to society were reported, Farage would be the nobody he should be.
Maybe stop repeating his talking points?
January 23, 2025 at 9:47 PM
So perhaps lack of integration is more of an issue?
Maybe if we didn't demonise all immigrants they would integrate quicker and easier?
Make people welcome and part of the wider community.
January 23, 2025 at 9:38 PM
Did you know that immigrants contribute more in tax than the average UK citizen?
Healthy, working age, people paying taxes. We did not even pay for their schooling. Another country foot the bill!
They are taxed even more if they want access to the NHS. They are net contributors to the UK finances.
January 23, 2025 at 9:32 PM
There are not millions of immigrants causing chaos. There is a small, over reported handful.

This then gets weaponised to demonise them all.

Been in an NHS hospital recently, maybe we should be a little more positive about immigration?
January 23, 2025 at 9:28 PM
Condemning immigrants, the majority of whom are just people like us just trying to get along in this world, for the actions of just a few evil people is vile.

But I can forgive, I believe most people can be redeemed.
January 23, 2025 at 9:11 PM
Again, state one vile action I have defended. One vile person I have stuck up for.

I am against, from post one, the vilifying of a whole diverse group of people and cultures or 'the 3rd world' as a whole.
January 23, 2025 at 8:48 PM
At least we have one point of agreement. I have no love for the current Tory party or anything Reform.
January 23, 2025 at 8:29 PM
Then let us target those that import it. Not the ones that don't.
January 23, 2025 at 8:28 PM
Did I condemn a whole swathe of the worlds population or a whole religion due the actions of an individual? Please show me where that happened.

Did you or did you not state that there is such a thing as 3rd world barbarism?
January 23, 2025 at 8:26 PM
All practices that are rightly condemned and prosecuted, along with the individuals and groups that condone it.

But we do not say someone is guilty of it just because they come from a particularly country. We use evidence.
