If polling reveals priorities, then it's doesn't seem this PM is thinking very much about health or social care.

We can do it.

We underspend versus peers. We have the space to match funding with a plan for an exciting vision of primary care that not only expands access for everyone, but provides high quality care.

Lets build a healthcare system with word-class primary care as its cornerstone.

But we need to act fast.

Family doctors are burnt out, retiring early and/or leaving comprehensive primary care all together.

Only ~20% of people have access to a team. And we our underperforming on access to care.

This was the Tommy Douglas 'Medicare 2.0' model from over 50 years ago. At dawn of the antibiotics era, "Swift Current Health Region #1" gave us an early example.

The building blocks still exist today.

More family doctors are working in team-based models & they work better.

What to make last week's Pharmacare announcement?

I shared my analysis with CBC, to listeners of Here & Now:

Quick threaded summary below:

Despite having some of the highest drug costs in the world, Big Pharma invests little in Canadian R&D.

Don't believe the hype and don't be bullied into accepting political justifications for unfair drug prices.
