As an @rcn.org.uk member I get the @nursingstandard.bsky.social through the post each month. Claims to be your 'essential nursing journal', yet there is often little to no content around mental health. As a mental health nurse, that is what is essential.

I'll still be living in Scotland, and still interested in the field of 'personality disorder', so I'll be around, but my shift is over. (4/4)

We also had our first in person conferences since 2019, at Abertay University, Dundee in 2024 and 2025. These conferences have had more and more lived experience representation, both in attendance as well as contributing to presentations, and that is the only way forward. (3/4)

The last 6 years has been a privelege, to keep the network going through covid with online conferences, co-producing three animations to raise awareness and information about 'personality disorder' (2/4)

Yesterday was my last Scottish Personality Disorder Network conference as part of the executive group. Time poverty means I sadly cannot do everything I want to. (1/4)

A busy but enjoyable BIGSPD is over. I come away with new connections and ideas, some great feedback on my own presentation, and lovely to see some of Liverpool. #BIGSPD25

A pleasure to be invited to talk to NHS Tayside staff today, about the action/consequences model and ethical approaches to risk for people diagnosed with 'personality disorder'. More about the model at this webinar here:

Following the Nursing Times article "RCN questions separation of mental health nurse training", this response went to Mental Health Forum members on 7th April.

Reviewing an article, and I was wondering why I felt a surge of malevolence and pedantry boiling inside my dark soul, dying to be taken out on an unsuspecting author. The fiery red demon of reviewer 2 almost posessed me. But... I resisted, and was nice.

Some lovely feedback from training social work teams around 'personality disorder' today. Critique of the diagnosis, reminder of the humans behind the labels, and emphasis on the importance of relationships. Contact me at: danwarrender.wordpress.com

I enjoyed presenting some of my PhD research in Glasgow today, at an NCISH toolkit event with mental health nurses from across Scotland. Recognition of failings and enthusiasm for change.

This from 2003 is an excellent analysis of mental health nursing in acute inpatient settings, which details nurse experiences, and calls for an abolition of these settings in their current form. Still pertinent over 20 years later.

After 8 years enrolled as a PhD student, I graduated last week. Behind this picture and a minute crossing the stage was a lot of graft, self-doubt, stress, despair, but ultimately love for the topic that saw me through. To hear me talk about my study, you can follow this link: youtu.be/WnjfFfItGnQ

Took me a while to get into this, but was hooked once I fell into this dark atmospheric world of murder and conspiracy. I can see why it's seminal in the graphic novel world. Cracking writing and story, affecting artwork.
