Totally buzzing to be longlisted for the 2024 Writers & Artists Working-Class Writers’ Prize.

I’m just a guy… who wanted to write a story about Jesus knowing martial arts… and set it in modern-day Glasgow. And it really just spiralled from there.

Good luck and congrats to everyone longlisted! 🍻

Never been to the Mackintosh Church in Glasgow before and I am really enjoying myself.

Even better, here to see Rachel Sermanni.

My exclusive story on the front page of today’s Daily Record: ScotRail urged to ditch first-class seating as figures show just 2% used last year - leaving 150k seats going spare every month on train services.

“It’s such a waste,” says @markruskell.bsky.social www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/scottis...

Currently reading: Ever Fallen in Love by @zoestrachan.bsky.social which I’m enjoying very much and stumbled across in, you guessed it, Hillhead Library (am I on commission or something?)

Just read: Home by @caileansteed.bsky.social - a cracking story and engrossing study of the cult of cults.

I am rather a fan of Glasgow’s charming network of public libraries and I’ve been working this year to knock them off one by one.

Today I am merely in my local, Hillhead Library. Use them or lose them, people. That’s one of my many mottoes. (If you don’t like that one, I have others.)

Hello New Twitter, this is like the olden days, eh. I see some other folk have done posts introducing themselves so here’s mine.

I’m a Glasgow-based writer and journalist best known for always needing a haircut and compulsively taking a picture every time I see a squirrel.
