Your poem makes me think of my father who escaped the Communist revolution in China as a child to come to this country. From a Maoist dictatorship to freedom. Your poem brings me to the 1600s when my mother’s ancestors arrived on a ship fleeing an English tyrant. Thank you for sharing your poem! 🪷
