If you add 8.6 million people to the current estimated 27.1 million uninsured in the U.S., the total uninsured would be 35.7 million. Using the 2024 U.S. population estimate of about 340 million, this would raise the uninsured percentage from roughly 8 percent to about 10.5 percent.
