@soaproot a lot of them, yes! though periostracum can have a bright golden color just due to coincidental properties of the proteins involved!

@w7voa this really is a nice physical manifestation of what they've done to the entire government. So many public servants persecuted and forced out. Decades of expertise annihilated.

@joncounts @lightweight sphaeriids attach to birds and sometimes amphibians. I am not familiar with the most common dispersal methods In NZ!

@soaproot oh yes. The shipworms really are some of the weirdest clams we have. They just are built different, in most ways
