Lover of nature, literature, food, road bikes, cocktails, board games, can't look away from politics. Aerospace pays the bills.
Calling them credulous would be too generous. They aren’t fools, they are willing participants in disseminating lies.

Today, it's obvious that slavery is wrong, but slaveholders made all kinds of convoluted arguments for why "Actually the slaves are better off than they were in Africa!" It's easier and cheaper to sacrifice principles for personal interest than to sacrifice my wants for some ethic.

This is what happens when you work from a starting point of desired outcomes and then reverse engineer reasoning to support it rather than starting from principles and using them to determine desired outcomes.

If the rule is that anyone who is dishonest about the scope of renovations of federal buildings loses his job, then I'm very sorry Mr. Powell, but you're gonna have to take one for the team.

"murderer" is such an unfair slur for people who wantonly kill their fellow citizens.

You murder ONE woman in cold blood and suddenly everyone is calling me a murderer... What's the matter with people? Where's the humanity?

Reminds me of an old joke... "I spent my whole career building houses, but do they call me Tom the Bulder? No. I bowled every week for 20 years, but do they call me Tom the Bowler? No. I won the fair chili cook-off 5 years running, but do they call me Tom the Cook? No! But you fuck ONE goat..."

@kairyssdal.bsky.social I thought as a rule that 100k jobs / month was needed to keep up with population growth. If we have only 50k new jobs and falling unemployment, does that mean reduced population growth, people exiting the workforce, or something else?

I think it's even worse than that. MAGA isn't getting what they said they wanted (lower prices and the Epstein files), but they're being TOLD that what they're getting is what they want, and because politics isn't about principles, they're satisfied as long as their team keeps declaring victory.

Why should we bring you scientists and other smart people when we know what you really want is to have someone on the TV give credence to that crazy thing Uncle Carl told you last week?

You should have @radiofreetom.bsky.social on Pivot to talk about his book Death of Expertise.

I just started watching Pluribus yesterday because I at least wanted to find out what everyone hated so much. I'm only through three episodes, but I'm enthralled. Along with Severance, these Apple shows are such fantastic thought experiments. What's the objection?

It SHOULD not, and the fact that is widely accepted is evidence that the electorate is unworthy of the rights we've been granted, knowing that they are treated with such unseriousness.

Excuse me. Times New Roman is the only approved font.

Heap praise on John Dickerson for leaving and scorn on Brennan for staying and becoming a mouthpiece for the Trump admin. She either knows better, or this is how she actually thinks. Either way, shame on her.

Like…it’s so easy!

It's better that they don't. America should see the maniac they elected in all his unhinged glory.

That's lovely. And also.... I will be ready for spring at 12:01 AM on January 2nd.

So, is this an admission that things weren't ACTUALLY all that bad under Biden? Or is it an acknowledgement that Trump has failed to improve the economy because consumer sentiment IS reality and it doesn't matter what the numbers say if average Americans don't feel it?
December 14, 2025 at 7:12 PM
Actually, that's not true. I'd like them to do that EVERY time - not just once - because when he asks, "who do you work for?" answering his question allows him to change the subject, and you've given up on getting an answer.
