Just read and signed @deno.land's petition to the US patent office to cancel Oracle's JavaScript™ trademark. Seems like a pretty cut and dry case to me. Stand with the JS community by signing the open letter at javascript.tm.

18F was doing exactly the type of work that DOGE claims to want – yet we were eliminated shortly after midnight. Read our letter to the American people:

Apps should let us choose *when*, we get notified, not just what to get notified about. I don't want an interruption in the middle of my work day. Send me notifications after I get off, or Saturday morning. Otherwise I'm just gonna turn them all off.

Teaching is about making students reach the same level of understanding as the teacher—but with less mental effort.

This allows students to put their mental efforts into growing beyond their teachers.

This evening I've been reading Chapter 5: Identifying Your Values. You would think most people know their values. However, one of the key points of this chapter is that when we attempt to list them, we frequently omit many relevant ones. Keep this in mind next time you make a decision.

Was reading Give Yourself a Nudge again this morning. Dr. Keeney states: "Your initial effort should be to identify all of your values relevant to your decision... Once you understand your values... all of the subsequent effort... is to figure out how to best achieve these values."

Just a reminder, any time you're told to open a local file with vim or nano you could also use VS Code. Just make sure `code` is on your path and then put that in your command instead.

Been wondering what my goals are in life and a good friend recommended "Give Yourself a Nudge" by Ralph L. Keeney. I just started reading it but can tell it's going to be good!

This month, NIST (www.nist.gov) finalized the specs for some post-quantum cryptography (PQC) standards.

Current encryption techniques are vulnerable if/when a sufficiently powerful quantum computer tries to before force them.

Just hit 600 days learning foreign languages on Duolingo! Been focusing on Japanese and it's been very helpful on my trip. I wouldn't say I'm fluent but it's taught me a good foundation.

Can we stop the trend of slowly animating in UI components? I can't tell you the number of marketing websites I've tried to scroll through quickly and end up effectively having half my screen blank because the components are still animating in.

Man, I really want domain handles to also be links. Can't tell you the number of times I've tried to click them. You can't even select text in the Android app so I have to manually type it in to my browser, switching back and forth to make sure I typed it right.

PSA: Take the time to read through VS Code's Release Notes. Coworkers often ask how I know about feature x, and it's because I always skim the release notes for each update.

This time around I'm excited for the newly added Sticky Scroll in tree views!
