Hi Brian, I think you might be right. In another photo the stipe is properly shaggy. And most caps were not upturned like this one. In the Skoke in October.

There are thousands of species around here. About 20 are tasty and safe. Maybe half a dozen will try to kill you. The rest are best enjoyed for their habitat role, their appearance, or just the discovery.

Definitely. There are lots of tasty edible ones in the forests here, especially in the fall.
