Cool, foggy, misty. I’ve been told to expect a lot of this kind of weather in northern Germany during Fall and Winter. It was meant as a warning but I took it as a promise of a dreamy views like this surrounding me for a while.

I saw an elk eating the moon this morning. Cool, huh?

The moon goes down as the sun comes up - Asendorf, Germany.

You’ll probably see plenty of photos of the super moon today. What you won’t see much of is the view down the road from the farmhouse I’m staying in.

Could be worse.

I could write on and on about the difference between German and American cafes. You just gotta go and sit in them for a while and you’ll see and hear a whole mess of cultural differences.

With the help of Karl Reich and his 1933 recording of “Waldvögel and Nachtigall,” here’s what some of my Sunday morning looked like.

I wouldn’t call it a direct “attack,” but this little blonde cow did give me a very threatening moo and took a couple steps towards me. Needless to say, I was too busy saying “Awww” to be frightened.

The beauty of Autumn can also mean death and the end of a life cycle. The storms have brought down almost all of the gold, orange, yellow, and red leaves, placing them at my doorstep. Perhaps it’s a not-so-subtle reminder to me that a change is due for me, too.

Asendorf, Niedersachsen, Germany - What a glorious day … to stay inside.

It’s not snowing or freezing yet … but that nasty weather is getting close. It’s nice to know an ample supply of neatly stacked firewood is close by.

This fest in Bremen, Germany is in its 990th year. That’s just wild!

We’re headed to the wicked weather season here in Niedersachsen. Today’s wasn’t horrible but it was leaning in that direction.

Pretty clouds, though, eh?

It was a lovely day, the kind of day one moves to Germany for.

Bremen, Germany - About 150 people, Americans and Germans, showed up for the No Kings gathering today to stand up against tyranny and authoritarianism.

It has been politely brought to my attention that I rarely have people in my photos from Germany. Well, here’s some of the 37,000 from the game in Bremen last night. That should make up for the lack of people in my other photos.

Them clouds, tho.

Just happened to look out my window as I was sitting at my desk here in Asendorf and was lucky enough to catch the fireworks.

I’ve changed the temperature settings in my phone to Celsius to feel more like a local here in Asendorf but now I can’t tell if it’s warm or not. The sun was shining and the wind wasn’t blowing but it was only 14 degrees. That doesn’t sound good.
