Writer, editor, cyclist. Rocking green at Nvidia. Formerly RWW, ARC, MIT, Google. Science and science fiction.
I grew up reading The Wheel of Time and it was my constant companion when things were tough or lonely. It's one of the reasons I became a writer. To see what they've done with the show, especially in season 3, gives me great joy.

Saw someone ask, "is the Kool Aid Man the jar or the liquid?"

It's like asking is a human the skin or the blood?

One thing I found myself saying repeatedly to my 16 year old nephew over the holidays was:

"We are rational beings in an irrational world."

Io is my favorite place in the solar system outside of Earth.

Not to, like, live, of course. It's an absolute hellscape of volcanoes and sulfur that falls like snow. But that just makes it more interesting than like 99% of all the other boring rocks out in space.

What is this, 2011?

Once upon a time, I built basically all the initial traffic to the digital magazine I helped found -- ARC -- based on my Twitter followers and checkmark status. Now that would basically be impossible on most social platforms.

Except for, apparently, Bluesky 🤩

I feel like on Bluesky, my timeline is "cleansed" every 10 posts or so by a picture of a cat labeled "timeline cleanse."

I always find it disconcerting when my younger colleagues don't understand my Max Headroom references.
Happy 37th anniversary of the Max Headroom Incident, to those who celebrate.

Once upon a time, I used to have a lot to say on social. As a journalist, part of the gig. I was on Bluesky early but, I dunno, what's there to say? Sometimes I have a thought ... then just text it to my mother instead.

Now she's all over Bluesky

So @mylight55.bsky.social ... what's happening? 😁
