Thank you to City Lights and the artists who put on that exhibit. The work had a nostalgic, comforting energy that reminded me why this city matters. We don’t always need to erase history. Sometimes, we need to let it live.

Destroying history only deepens gentrification. If we want to make Bridgeport appealing to others, they need to see what this city actually stands for and how it came to be. Growth doesn’t always mean demolition; it can also mean adaptation. - - -

To me, it makes more sense to cover this building with murals, art from different Bridgeport artists showing pride and love for this city, instead of tearing it down. - - -

The band playing commented on the industrial aesthetic of Bridgeport, the train tracks running right by the venue, the old factories, the grit. I don’t know if they were being sincere, but in that moment I looked over and saw beauty in my city, and that tower was part of it. - - -

I grew up with this building, like so many others, and I don’t believe it should be destroyed. It’s part of the city’s personality.
