I'm more than seven years sober now, and I find myself pulling for Sark. I wrote about that in bi-weekly column for The News Tribune:

I was about six months sober at that point, but I had kept this quiet. Many of my good friends didn't know. I hadn't planned on talking about any of this that day, but I wound up doing so.

It turned out to be a really important step for me. I felt more certain about my sobriety after that.

We came back to the house with 40’s and blunts and the (stuff) just went off.

Two of my college roommates sent them to me as a birthday present. One of those dudes I kept up after buying “Wu-Tang Forever” double disc at midnight the day it came out.

I remain someone who sees the cup as half full.

After walking through the tunnel, entering the stands, a Penn State fan on the aisle, turned and said “Welcome to Happy Valley.”

Guy in front of me turned around, “They don’t do that at Eagle games.”

I'm sorry you and the staff have to deal with this. I have a deep admiration and respect for Sports Illustrated and a number of friends and writers I admire who work there. The fact that the people currently in charge are doing things like this is a travesty.
