Fantastic last day of #TCMFF. Five great films including OKLAHOMA, SPLENDOR IN THE GRASS, and THE TOAST OF THE TOWN. Closing it out with Kelly, Sinatra, Williams, and Garrett. Love this place!

Excited to see the VistaVision presentation of WE’RE NO ANGELS at the Chinese right now. #TCMFF

The restoration of BEN-HUR was spectacular. Next up: BRIGADOON at the Egyptian. Not my fav musical, tbh, but you can never go wrong with Cyd Charisse and Gene Kelly on a Saturday afternoon. #TCMFF

In church (Grauman’s Chinese) about to get biblical with BEN-HUR. Day 3 of a great #TCMFF.

THE ENCHANTED COTTAGE was SO moving and well acted but the ad campaign gets on my last nerve. Scandal did NOT mark their love. #TCMFF

Next up: a favorite of my whole family: THE ENCHANTED COTTAGE with the brilliant Dorothy McGuire. #TCMFF

Could not have loved SERVANTS ENTRANCE more. Fantastic cast and such a delight. My first time. #TCMFF

Norma was brilliant but why take that pig back? Next up, the rarely screened SERVANTS ENTRANCE at the Egyptian. Can’t wait! #TCMFF

Big early morning crowd at the Egyptian for THE DIVORCEE. Woo-hoo, go, Norma! Let’s see that Oscar! #TCMFF

Crazy fun memory from 12 years ago today when I went to see the Donny & Marie Christmas Spectacular at the Pantages. As soon as Marie Osmond came into the audience, I KNEW she'd pick me for her schtick. I loved it and her, and damn, that woman can sing! I kept her lip imprints on my head for a day.

Happy 109th birthday to the Chairman of the Board. Here's our friend, the late Barbara Rush, with Sinatra (she made two fab films with him, "Come Blow Your Horn" and "Robin and the Seven Hoods") and my son Charles with Barbara half a century later. Frank was devoted to all of his close friends.

Happy 93rd Birthday to the fab Rosa Dolores Alverío Marcano aka Rita Moreno, one of only 18 EGOT winners in the world. "I call myself the hardware shelf. There's a lot of awards and honors there. And I have earned that. I didn't ask for it, I didn't beg for it, I didn't pay for it. I earned that."

Happy 122nd Birthday to the OG, Margaret Hamilton. "My agent called and said they wanted me for a part on the Wizard. I said, 'Oh, boy, The Wizard of Oz! That has been my favorite book since I was four!' I asked what part, and he said 'The Witch.' I said, 'The Witch?!' And he said, 'What else?'"

I love this photo of MLK, Jr. and Sammy Davis, Jr., born 99 years ago today in New York. I saw Sammy perform a bunch of times when I was a kid and he was the greatest. And I'm sure, like Martin Luther King, Jr., he had to endure so much insanity. "Daring to try, to do it or die, I've gotta be me!"

Happy 92nd Birthday to the brilliant Ellen Burstyn. So many exquisite performances. "It's unfortunate but our society is such that, for women in Hollywood, you get to a certain age and just fall off a cliff. But in my case, I refuse to die. I will hang on, by a little finger if necessary."

The great Agnes Moorehead was born a whopping 124 years ago today. "You must remember that Endora is basically a good witch. It's just that she hasn't the patience to endure human follies and foibles. She's a genius and she demands that quality in people as well."

Happy 123rd Birthday to that Chicago-born genius, Walt Disney, winner of 22 competitive Academy Awards. Is there any one human being in American history who's had a bigger influence on the overall entertainment industry? Here are me and my sister on the Mad Hatter's Tea Cups at Disneyland in 1971.

Happy 103rd Birthday to the lovely Deanna Durbin — doesn't everyone have a life-sized cutout of the Canadian actress in their home? Durbin only made 21 films but was a massive star. She was even Anne Frank's favorite (there were two photos of Deanna on Anne's bedroom wall in the Secret Annex).

Birthday greetings to the great Julie Harris, born on this date 99 years ago. My wife knew her because of her friendship with Charles Nelson Reilly. Charles and Harris starred in the musical "Skyscraper" and Harris won one of her FIVE Tony Awards for "The Belle of Amherst" which Charles directed.

Remembering Dan Sotomayor on World AIDS Day. I knew him as an artist in Chicago. Diagnosed with AIDS in 1988, he founded the Chicago chapter of ACT UP and became one of city's most vocal and relentless AIDS activists. I so admired him. What a loss to the world his death was at the age of 33.

Weird that they were born exactly 10 years apart. Woody Allen is now 89 and Bette Midler 79 which is hard to believe on both counts. It's a shame that the one movie they made together ("Scenes from a Mall") was not very good, especially since it was written and directed by the great Paul Mazursky.

I'm so happy to be off of Elon Musk's hellscape (that I only ever posted in during the TCM Festival) that I think I'll start posting on here about things I'm interested in — such as today's centennial for the great Shirley Chisholm. I still have my button from her historic presidential campaign.
