Cant disagree they're probably not prioritizing a backcourt pairing with Ivey when they've been so successful in his absence but if Ivey WERE to return to the 18ppg/40+3P% player he was pre-injury I dont think they could avoid starting him imo. Ivey won't be Trey Murphy, but he might not be far off

You mean in a "he'll always be more valuable off the bench" type of way? Or in a "he'll be traded before he even gets his conditioning to the point he can start" type of way?

In Detroit I feel like it was slightly easier to defend the poor roster construction because it was arguably more important to try and find whatever diamonds in the rough we could and if we lost games in the process, all the better for lotto odds. But with NOLA trading away next year's pick, yikes

Imo the only trade I would consider would be a long term add like if we could pry away Jalen Johnson or Trey Murphy. We almost escaped the first round last year while missing Ivey and Stew so I wouldn't even bother trying to think about tweaks intended specifically for this year's postseason

I'm gonna springboard on several other comments and just ask: what's their timeline on settling their main core? Duren and Ivey are due paydays, Ausar needs consideration too plus Jenkins might be too good to give up. What's our timeline to say yay or nay on each of this seasons core players?

Javonte for sure, Paul Reed too. Even Levert and Robinson should have been fairly minor players this year imo but have been absolutely cooking during this stretch. Just top to bottom we've got guys who can't wait to seize their opportunity and it shows

First thing I did after that last game was clip their performance cause it was so spectacular. Enjoy it whenever you need to

If Lauri were on like a super valuable contract you could maybe rationalize it but he's not and Iveys value can really only go up for DET once he gets healthy so this would just be selling low and needlessly kneecapping ourselves for the sake of it

Duren and Ron shooting mid 80s FT% is genuinely incredible. I'm sure we'll see some regression (at least from Duren) but still, wow

This is maybe not the best example but it's salient so please bear with me: how are you feeling about the new CBAs impact on salary analytics? For a layman it seems like they have finally achieved a system that penalizes poor spending enough that teams need to be properly judicious with young talent
