If you haven't seen it already, I'd recommend the hitcher 1986. It's one of those films that was kinda a flop on release but got a really strong following overtime.

I think they only reason they do that is because they want to confirm any returned equipment if you had any like a router or modem simply because months down the line they can randomly charge you if it was never properly returned.
