I think there are some lessons for us today from this story. Those who seek to prop up unjust systems of rule often create the liberatory movements they so fear.

Rashi argues that the plague began as a single Frog (some Rabbis say it was a giant frog, but others say it was normal sized) but that "when they [the Egyptians] struck at it, it was split into many swarms"
Thus, in this telling through repression the Egyptians created their own plague.

So why use the singular word for "Frog" when the plague is described as being made up of a multitude of frogs? Well, the Rabbis have puzzled over this for centuries. To my mind, Rashi came up with the best answer.

Biden did not literally sell the office, as Trump is doing, but he definitely conceptualized it as belonging to him--as his to keep or give away.
